EPISODE DESCRIPTION

The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory presents Shakespeare’s fairytale of jealousy, loss, redemption and love. The Winter’s Tale, which will be performed in Original Pronunciation (OP) as Shakespeare heard it. The play follows in the footsteps of BSF’s well-received and historic production of The Merchant of Venice which opened the 2015 season.

Guest director James Keegan has performed for more than a decade at The American Shakespeare Center, appearing in over 75 roles in 56 repertory productions, employing original performance and rehearsal conditions. Favorite roles include King Lear, Falstaff, Macbeth, Iago, Shylock, Leontes, Antony, and Titus Andronicus.

Recent regional theater credits include Henry V at the Folger Shakespeare Theater; A Skull in Connemara, Julius Caesar, and Stuff Happens and Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theater;and the title role in King Lear as a Visiting Resident Artist at The University of South Carolina.

He is an associate professor of English on the University of Delaware’s Georgetown campus, where he also teaches acting. He has an essay on playing Falstaff coming out this year in the collection Shaping Shakespeare for Performance. Next summer he will play Mark Antony in Antony and Cleopatra at Theatreworks in Colorado Springs.
